Members of Free Media Vanguard hit the streets on Tuesday, May 21[/caption] Pressure group Free Media Vanguard has given notice that it will picket at the premises of the National Communications Authority (NCA) if its request for some radio stations to be reopened is not granted. The group on Tuesday, May 21 staged the ‘March for Free Expression’ demonstration to petition the Authority to restore broadcasting rights to radio stations recently shut down.

Among these radio stations are Radio XYZ and Radio Gold. In a statement issued by Convener Prince Minkah on Monday, May 27, Free Media Vanguard wants NCA to respond to its substantive demands as a matter of urgency. “Among other things, we demanded the restoration of the broadcasting rights of Radio XYZ and Radio Gold, as well all radio stations unjustifiably shut down by the NCA. “The one-week ultimatum afforded the NCA elapses today,  and we therefore demand the immediate opening of the affected stations, failing which we shall  picket at the NCA’s premises. “We shall also continue to petition the international community and other relevant stakeholders till the needful is done.” Source: 3news.com|Ghana]]>
