Four persons have been picked up by the Ashanti Regional Police Command over the killing of a police officer at Manso Abodom in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region. COP Bernard Antwi was shot in the head by robbers on Monday, August 19 while on his way to Antoakrom. He was said to be travelling in the private vehicle of a small-scale miner when they were accosted at Dome Junction to surrender their belongings. Addressing journalists on Wednesday, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, ACP David Agyemang Adjem, said the four persons arrested are aiding in investigations. According to him, there are two women among the arrested. Several others on the run, he further stated, are known by the Command and “we will come for them”. He said the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong Boanuh, wants the perpetrators brought to book without delay. The Acting IGP has therefore called on investigators to ensure speedy investigations into the death of not only COP Antwi but also Lance Corporal Alhassan Asare, who also died on duty at Akyem Swedru on Tuesday. Investigators from the national headquarters have been deployed to help the respective regional commands in arresting the criminals. Source: 3news.com|Ghana]]>
