Fans of Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings have rallied together to re-launch the fan group founded in 2011 ahead of the presidential primary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Nana Konadu challenged then head of state, John Evans Atta Mills, whose supporters also came out with Get Atta Mills Elected (GAME). The resultant internal elections went the way of the then sitting president.

Later on, the former first lady founded the National Democratic Party (NDP) after accusing some NDC members of rigging the Sunyani congress in favour of the late President Atta Mills.

Ahead of the 2016 elections, Friends of Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings (FONKAR) has been launched again.

The new leadership says it will champion the interest of the former first lady, a marked departutre from what they accuse the former leaders of doing – championing their personal interest.

Mrs Rawlings commended her supporters for the latest move.

“My appreciation will go further or become stronger based on how we all conduct ourselves and how we are able to grow the association. What we are able to do with it.”

She charged members – and Ghanaians in general – to speak up on issues of national interest before “an explosion on our heads”.
