EOCO reiterates commitment to fight illegal operators in the financial market

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has reiterated its commitment to the enforcement of relevant laws in the operation of the financial market in Ghana.

This was after Four Hundred and Twenty Ghanaians who were suspected of illegal loan app operators were arrested in Accra.

They were picked up in a swoop by the Cyber Security Authority, in partnership with the Bank of Ghana and the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).

The swoop which took place on Monday, July 10 was conducted in three different suburbs of Accra where the 420 Ghanaians and three foreign nationals were arrested.

In all 654 mobile phones, 22 laptop computers and about 800 sim cards were retrieved.

A statement issued by EOCO  said, “The three collaborating institutions launched a swoop in the early hours of Monday, July 10, 2023, as part of a Joint Cybersecurity Committee operation which resulted in the arrest of over 420 suspects”.
