Elubo chief, brother arrested for galamsey granted bail

The chief of Sefwi Elubo, Nana Anini Baffour, who was arrested with his brother for illegal mining, has been granted bail.

The two and two others were granted bail by His Worship Lawrence Buenor on Monday, September 26.

They were granted bail at GH¢100,000 each with surety of Ghana Card.

They are to reappear in court on Tuesday, October 11.

Nana Anini Baffour and his brother, Kwadwo Affi, were arrested by police in the Western North Region on Friday, September 16 after a video of their activities went viral.

In the video, some compound houses in the town were seen degraded by the activities of illegal miners.

Some of the dugouts led to the bedroom of the chief’s brother.

Two more persons – Mr. Maxwell Quansah, and Williams Acquah – were later picked up by the police.

The accused have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime with mining without license and mining without license.
