File of 2017 BECE[/caption] Supervisors and teachers have been warned against aiding candidates in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Ashanti Regional Controller of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Alex Boapem-Bosompem says the Council has in the last two years worked to avoid leakages of the question papers. “Some supervisors and teachers connive to aid candidates to engage in examination malpractices and this does not augur well for the students and the integrity of the examination,” said in an interview on Friday. A total of 109,942 candidates are expected to write this year’s BECE in Ashanti Region, starting Monday, June 4. The Region will have 375 centres for the exams. Speaking to 3news.com ahead of the examination, Mr Boapem-Bosompem said all examination materials have already arrived. “With the exception of the question papers, all logistics for the exams have been dispatched to the various district education directorates,” he disclosed. He warned: “Anyone caught in assisting the candidates to cheat will face the law as we cannot allow few selfish individuals to tarnish the image of WAEC.” To the candidates, he advised them to abide by the exams regulations and not fall for temptations to cheat as that will jeopardize their future.
