The Labour Division of the Accra Circuit Court has directed the National Labour Commission (NLC) and the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) to continue settling their matter out-of-court.

The judge, Frank Rockson Aboadwe, had ordered the two parties on Thursday, February 3 to consider an out-of-court settlement and report back on Thursday, February 10 at the next hearing.

As of the said date, when the case was re-called, the two parties were yet to reach a settlement.

An invitation to UTAG by NLC to meet over the issue was declined by the former, choosing rather to meet government officials and report back to the latter.

The said meeting began on Tuesday, February 8 but could not conclude that very day and had to continue on Thursday.

With this yet to see an end, Justice Aboadwe adjourned sitting to Tuesday, February 15.

The NLC had dragged UTAG to court after declaring the strike by the university lecturers as illegal.

The lecturers were, thus, ordered to return to the lecture halls but this was not complied with, forcing the Commission to head to court.
