West African Senior High School shoved aside Konongo-Odumase SHS and Kadjebi-Asato SHS on Monday to book a place in the quarter-final of the ongoing National Science and Maths Quiz.
WASS is one of the seeded schools for this year’s contest and their contestants – Tade Abdul Hameed and Arkoh Saahene – put up a sterling performance to justify that.
They represented the school last year too – while in Form 2.

The Ashanti Region school jumped to the lead in the first round, opening a two-point gap.
But last year’s quarter-finalists showed their mettle in Round 2 to keep their contenders at bay.
Round 3 saw the Konongo-based school match the Adenta-based school shoulder-to-shoulder as they both scored full marks in the Problem of the Day, leaving Volta Region’s Kadjebi-Asato SHS in the shadows.
KOSS, who reached this stage with one of the highest scoring from the preliminary stage, lost steam in the ensuing rounds as WASS won the contest with seven points.
WASS amassed 62 points, KOSS got 55 points and Kadjebi-Asato trailed then on 23 points at the end of the contest.
The Greater Accra School will face Tamale SHS and Kumasi Secondary Technical School in the quarter-final, which begins on Thursday.
