Jamra KG disaster: Education Minister visits victims’ families

The Education Minister was at the hospital on Wednesday[/caption] Minister of Education Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has paid a visit to families of victims of the kindergarten school building that killed six pupils in Jamra in the Central Region. He also visited those on admission at the Breman Asikuma Government Hospital. Dr Prempeh promised to foot the hospital bills of the injured on admission and help in the funeral arrangements of those who lost their lives. The disaster occurred on Tuesday, January 31, when the kindergarten of the Jamra Methodist School collapsed. Four pupils died instantly and two later died at the Breman Asikuma Government Hospital. Speaking in local language Twi, he bemoaned why the attention of the traditional authorities – who are stakeholders in national development, he said – was not drawn to the supposed cracks in the building.
