A heavy downpour recorded in the Ashanti Region on Saturday, March 2, has displaced over 200 students at the Ejisu Senior High Technical School.

Following the development, the affected students sought shelter in the unaffected classroom blocks.

According to the report, the students were at the dining hall when the incident happened, with no injuries or casualties being recorded.

The four-hour-long rains wrecked teaching and learning materials, and the school’s warehouse, which houses textbooks and other materials, was also damaged.

Although the boys’ dormitories were the most devastated, around seven classrooms were also impacted.

Meanwhile, authorities in the area have intervened by providing temporary housing facilities for the students. Engineers from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) of the Ejisu Municipal Assembly have also begun an assessment of the damage.

Information available also suggests that a portion of the school roof fell on high-tension cables around the school and the main gate.

The storm also caused damage at the Ejisu Experimental and Krapa Basic Schools.
