Christian Morgan to visit Labour, Education Ministries with issues on PWDs

Christian Morgan[/caption] The 2nd runner up of TV3 Talented Kidz Season 8, Christian Morgan is to dialogue with Minister for Employment & Labour Relations Ignatius Baffour Awuah and officials of Special Education Division of the Ministry of Education on issues concerning Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) on Wednesday. Visually impaired himself, the 12 year old pupil of the Ghana National Basic Inclusive School near Cape Coast School for the deaf and blind in the Central Region believes that, many people in conditions like his could excel in life when more favorable policies are made and implemented to educate, empower, and employ them. Speaking to 3news.com, Christian Morgan, stage named, ‘Time No Dey’ said he has sensed from the inspirational music that he listens to and from his immediate environment that many PWDs are left on the streets because they lacked employable skills while others shy away from the public due to stigmatization. He however commended the Minister of Road and Highways Kwasi Amoako Attah for his commitment to reserve 50 percent of all contracts in manning tollbooths for PWDs. The self-styled advocate for inclusive society, Christian Morgan, will also plead with the Ministry of Education to gather more efforts in making inclusive schools disability friendly as his colleagues and himself go through series of challenges in attaining formal education. Poor infrastructure and inadequate resource teachers are some issues confronting inclusive schools in the country. ‘Time No Dey’ was amongst four contestants who were selected during auditions at Takoradi for the talent show which has served as a stepping stone for the realization of dream of becoming musician. The Kofi Kinnata’s mentee will also pay visits to the Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations (GFD) and some key personalities who awesomely supported him during the show as part of rendering his appreciation to them. Speaking to Morgan’s godfather and manager, Spencer Kwabena Boateng Mensah, he said on premises that Morgan left academic gaps during the reality show and needed to cover up to speed afterwards, thus the reason for his silence two months post Talented Kidz 8.
