The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, on Friday, October 20 commissioned a six-unit classroom block for the University of Ghana Staff Village School.

Established in 1962 for junior staff of the University of Ghana, the school has seen enrollment grow with few facilities to accommodate the pupil population.

With the help of Ghana National Gas Company Limited, the new block was completed.

The project comes with an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Center.

Madam Seyram Alhassan, who is also the Deputy Majority Chief Whip of Parliament, expressed excitement about the new project.

She said the facility is to boost education in the Constituency particularly within the low-to-middle class as the school is a public one.

Reading a speech on behalf of the Ayawaso West Municipal Education Directorate, Madam Rita Amoabeng Prah thanked the lawmaker for her tremendous contribution to education in the municipality since becoming MP.

“When we look at our schools, the development cannot be measured,” she indicated.

“You have raised the standard of the education directorate.”

A Senior Officer at Ghana Gas said the help offered for the construction of the facility lies within the three thematic areas of the gas company, namely business development, human capacity development and community development.

He entreated the school’s authorities to take care of the project.
