Asiakwa teacher murder: Police on heels of last suspect

The Eastern Regional Police Command is appealing to the public to help them apprehend the last of six suspects, who beat the headmaster of Salvation Army Basic School at Asiakwa, resulting in his death. The police say the last suspect has been identified as Aboagye, who is popularly known as ‘Otorgo’, a 19-year-old JHS drop out. He is currently on the run after the incident. On Wednesday, May 8, a fifth suspect, Hezekiel Boadu, was arrested in Accra by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service. He has been taken to court to face the law. The four other young men earlier arrested have been remanded in police custody by the Kibi District Magistrate Court to reappear on May 14, 2019. Richard Anani, Emmanuel Mireku, Philip Okodie and Paul Boadu were charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder. Speaking in an interview with Onua FM’s Yen Sempa on Thursday, the Kibi District Police Commander, Superintendent Magnus Reindolf Sam, said “we have arrested another person and he told us there is another one that we are looking for”. He said the autopsy report of George Somuah Bosompem, the Religious and Moral Education teacher at Asiakwa Salvation Army Basic School, will be done to determine what killed him. “We shall do the autopsy. The autopsy will report will determine what killed him because for now, we can’t determine what killed him.” Supt Reindolf Sam said the wife of the late teacher is traumatized over the issue. “The wife delivered just three months ago,” he added.
