The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has expressed resolve to follow through with the roadmap as agreed and published by the Ministry of National Security to restore power to Kroboland.

The Company, therefore, expressed hope that all other stakeholders will play their respective roles to make the exercise beneficial to all parties.

Power has been cut in the Lower Manya and Yilo Krobo municipalities after workers of ECG came under constant attacks from residents.

Transformers were tampered with while ECG officials were often stopped from entering homes to audit prepaid metres, which were said to be full of debts.

Already, the district offices of the Company had been relocated to Juapong from Somanya.

After weeks of impasse amid total darkness in the municipalities, a stakeholders’ meeting was called early August and a roadmap was agreed to as to how to restore power in the affected communities.

“We admit it will not be easy due to misinformation amongst our customers in the Yilo Krobo and Manya Krobo enclave but we will entreat everyone to remain calm and assist ECG to serve you better,” a press release issued and signed by the Managing Director of ECG, Samuel Dubik Mahama, said.

The release on Tuesday, August 23 expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, particularly the sector minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, the political leadership in the municipalities, notably the Members of Parliament, traditional leaders, heads of religious bodies and opinion leaders “for their significant roles in bringing finality to the ECG/Yilo Krobo and Lower Manya Krobo impasse”.
