The Electricity Company of Ghana has responded to concerns expressed by customers over the capacity of distribution transformers within some communities across their operational areas.

According to the power distribution company, a total of six hundred and thirty (630) distribution transformers have reached full capacity due to increased demands, hence the challenges.

The ECG through a press release dated the March, 11 highlighted that, the issue may lead to technical challenges including blown fuse and broken conductors, which may cause power outages within these areas, particularly during the peak load periods (7pm – 11pm).

The company, however, assured customers that efforts were underway to address the challenge by upgrading and initiating new projects aimed at relieving the pressure on existing transformers in a bid to ensure reliability in the power supply.

The statement advised customers within affected areas to “report any outage or voltage fluctuations to the ECG call center on 0302611611 or on their social media platforms via ECGghofficial (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) for prompt assistance.”

“We continue to seek the support and patience of affected customers as we work to improve our power distribution system” the statement added.
