The Executive Director in charge of Stakeholders at the Village of Hope (VOH) Orphanage, Kwaku Sarkodie has appealed to Christians to remember the orphans and the vulnerable children in society as they celebrate Easter.

“The care of an orphan is not the responsibility of one person. If we believe children are gifts from God then all of us should help take of care of them.

“We should ask ourselves do I want it for my child, is it good for my children. If it is not good for my children then it is not good for the orphan” he urges Christians and the privileged in society.

Kwaku Sarkodie was speaking on the Easter Special Edition of the Sunrise Morning Show on 3FM with Alfred Ocansey.

He disclosed that about two hundred and fifty children including; orphans, trafficked children from the Volta Lake, rescued street children and a four days old abandoned baby are undergoing, Basic Education and Vocational training in auto mechanics, leather works, hair-dressing and sewing at Village of Hope Orphanage.

“As I speak with you, Village of Hope is taking care of about eighty children from day one to JHS in the residential home, forty in the Senior High School, and about fifty in tertiary institutions“

Kwaku Sarkodie Deputy Director in charge of Stakeholders, at Village of Hope This gesture started in 1996 by the Church of Christ Ghana to take care of orphans and the vulnerable children. With an initial number of eight children, Village of Hope Orphanage has successfully rescued and rehabilitated about one hundred and fifty children into independent and responsible adults who are also giving back to the society in various spheres of human endeavor.

According to him, Human Rights Lawyer, and Member of Parliament for Medina Constituency, Francis-Xavier Sosu is one of the children trained from the Village of Hope Orphanage and is a clear testimony that when an orphan is given the opportunities of decent life, he or she will become beneficial to society.
