In alignment with Sustainable Development Goal #5, which aims for Gender Equality, DUNK Grassroots has taken a proactive step towards bridging gender gaps by introducing the ‘Boys For Change’ Project.

The initiative will be rolled out in three centres in Accra – Jamestown, Nima, and Agege, with a focus on empowering young boys and men to become advocates against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

Through the implementation of innovative activities and programs organized by boys and men, the project seeks to create a society where women and girls can live without fear of violence. By equipping them with knowledge and resources, DUNK is confident that significant progress can be made towards achieving its overarching goal.

The primary objectives of the Boys for Change Project are to engage boys and men, fostering self-sustaining movements that increase awareness of SGBV and drive advocacy actions. The initiative aims to not only raise awareness about GBV but also to substantially reduce its occurrence. Furthermore, it seeks to enhance knowledge and promote positive attitudes, ultimately leading to more equitable treatment of children concerning gender roles and chores.

DUNK Grassroots envisions that the project will extend its impact beyond the three Accra centres, with communities across Ghana adopting the model of boys and men movements. By empowering young males to stand against SGBV, the project strives to create a safer and more equitable society for all.
