Drop in inflation rate: Continue to support Akufo-Addo-Bawumia gov’t to deliver – Ahiagbah

The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has appealed to Ghanaians to support the Akufo-Addo administration to deliver as the rate of inflation drops.

On Wednesday, January 10 the Government Statistician Professor Samuel Annim announced that the inflation rate for December 2023 dropped to 23.2 percent from the 26.4 percent recorded in November.

Prof. Kobina Annim said that food inflation recorded  28.7 percent, while non-food inflation saw an inflation rate of 18.7 percent.

Alcoholic beverages, tobacco,  personal care, narcotics amongst others were the major factors that contributed to the overall inflation.

“Year-on-year rate of inflation for December 2023 was 23.2 percent. This means that in the month of December 2023 the general price level was 23.2 percent higher than December 2022”, Prof. Annim explained.

Inflation rate drops to 23.2%

Commenting on this on his X platform, Mr Ahiagbah said “Inflation has dropped 31 percentage points between December 2022 and December 2023. This is a testament to our collective resilience.

“Let’s continue to support the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government to deliver the goods for Ghana into the foreseeable future. Dr. Bawumia will leverage digitalization to build a productive economy for Ghana.”
