Dr. Donald Senanu Agumenu, a former aide to the late former Ghana President Jerry John Rawlings, has offered a political prediction regarding Kennedy Agyapong, a prominent figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Dr Agumenu, who previously contested the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary for Ketu North, expressed his support for NDC’s presidential candidate, John Mahama, in the upcoming election. He believes that while John Mahama is poised to win the 2024 general elections, Kennedy Agyapong may emerge as the leader of the NPP in the future.

This prediction coincides with the NPP’s preparations for its leadership election, scheduled for November 4, where Kennedy Agyapong and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia are considered frontrunners.

Dr Agumenu, an African leadership and management expert, stated, “While it’s becoming manifestly clear Prez Mahama would emerge the winner of the 2024 general elections, I wouldn’t be surprised if Mr Kennedy Agyepong becomes the leader of their party in the future after the reign of this establishment.”

With former Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kyerematen’s withdrawal from the race, Dr Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, former Minister of Food and Agriculture Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former MP for Mampong in the Ashanti Region Francis Addai-Nimoh are among those vying for leadership within the NPP.
