Mrs Opoku [R] takes over from Mr Osei[/caption]The Director of Tema Ports under the Ghana PortsĀ and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Edward Kofi Osei, has been removed from his post by President Nana Akufo-Addo. Though Mr Osei was asked to hand over his position to General Manager in charge of Legal, Mrs Sandra Opoku, by March 3, he complied with the directive on Friday, March 1. A source at the GPHA said Mr Osei was relieved of his post because he turned 60 years last year. He was said to have sought an extension of his two-year contract which had ended from the presidency, according to our source, but it was rejected. Mr Osei was appointed by President Akufo-Addo on June 6, 2018 to act as Director. Who is Sandra Opoku? Mrs Opoku was employed a lawyer in 2003, and admitted into the international maritime law institute in Malta in 2004 where she studied International maritime Law She has held various positions at the GPHA including General Manager in charge of Administration and Legal Manager. Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story stated Mr. Osei has been relieved of his post as acting Director General instead of Director of Tema Ports, and that Mrs Opoku has been appointed to take over. Besides he had retired from the authority and not relieved of his post as earlier indicated. We wish to state that was an error, which has since been corrected. We unreservedly apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. By 3news.com|Ghana]]>
