The Presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party, Dr. Abu Sakara has told Citi News, a CPP government will implement a free Senior High School policy.

This according to him is targeted at the poor in the Ghanaian society.

He said: “Any child who passes his or her BECE and cannot afford to go to Senior High School, the Convention People’s Party will ensure that their school fees are paid.

Dr. Sakara stated that his government will reduce the number of Senior High School dropouts through a broad vocational training plan for children who do not qualify for SHS.

“We want to cure the fundamental problem we have with high rate of BECE failures by ensuring that every child who takes the BECE exam and does not pass will also continue with a vocational education. The one who has the full complement of reading, writing and arithmetic as per the SHS system so that as well as learning a profession, they will also raise their proficiency skills to the level of a secondary school leaver,” he explained.

The CPP flagbearer further mentioned that this policy when implemented will enable Ghana to have a base population “at age 17 and 18 who all have secondary level proficiency in their education. This will be the foundation of the investments we shall make to build a modern technological society.”

He also promised that the CPP will establish industries across the country to provide employment opportunities for Ghanaians.
