“It is not true that I have engaged anybody to engage in illegal mining on my behalf. I swear, I have not engaged four Chinese nationals to work for me.

“It is not true that I took some Chinese Nationals to Bepotenten in Amansie Central, Ashanti Region, to mine for me. I have never engaged in mining activitie,” she told the court with the aid of an interpreter.

Presiding Judge Lydia Osei Marfo earlier ordered prosecution and defence lawyers to file their written addresses by September 20 and October 11 respectively.

In court on Thursday, October 12 the judge announced December 4 to read the judgement in the galamsey trial that has spanned since November 2022 when the Attorney-General reopened the case.

Aisha Huang has since pleaded guilty to re-entering Ghana after her deportation in 2018 but maintains a not guilty plea in the first two offences.

Among other things, State Prosecution led by Director of Public Prosecution, Yvonne Atakora Obuobisaju during cross-examination accused Aisha Huang of possessing three passports but concealed one after two were confiscated.

She also told the court that the Chinese National had been married to three men in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi but added that one Anthony Fabian was a nonexistent entity bring claimed by Aisha.

Aisha however insisted marrying Anthony Fabian in China in 2009 but the marriage lasted five years.

According to Aisha, Anthony Fabian visited her in Ghana every year and disagreed with the prosecution that her alleged husband did not exist.
