A private-led agriculture organisation, Count on Crops Hub in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture has planned to roll out events on best practices on farmlands while ensuring food safety across the country.
As part of the events, there would be sensitization programmes, startup training as well as capacity building programmes for extension officers to help boost the agric industry.
According to the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Count On Crops Hub, Enyonam Manye, the programmes which start from March to August 2022 have been categorised into four.
They are known as: extension alert; a capacity-building nationwide training program to adequately equip agricultural officers, feeding the bellies & not bins; a food safety campaign across the country, Akuafo Dwadie: a marketplace that will enable farmers, buyers, input dealers to trade.
It has also come up with an award scheme dubbed the (GAEOF) EXCELLENCE AWARD where hardworking extension officers across the 16 regions will be celebrated with a special focus on women.
Meanwhile, Count on Crops Hub has been projecting farmers through their flagship TV programme known as the Ghanaian Farmer Show where farmers share their challenges, success stories while encouraging the youth to go into agribusiness to reduce unemployment.
The hub also has a key agenda to serve as a training Centre for aspiring farmers, agro-business owners and tertiary students to receive free practical knowledge about the agricultural sector.
Executive Director of the agric-driven hub, Ms Enyonam Manye is appealing to corporate organisations and other stakeholders to support this laudable initiative to help transform agriculture into one of the most attractive sectors of the African economy.
