A member of the Council of State and Paramount Chief of Wiawso in the Western North Region, Nana Kwasi Bumangama II, is displeased about the lack of infrastructure befitting the status of the region.

During a courtesy call on him by NDC flagbearer John Mahama, he said after the creation of the new region, it is yet to attract the necessary improvement in infrastructure.

“The President has given us a region but we are not there yet. We are asking him to improve the status for us. So, we can match up to the Ashanti Region and others”, he intimated.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration shortly after coming into office created six new regions in line with decentralisation to to improve development.

At a Town Hall meeting at Wiawso, to have their suggestions factored into the NDC’s people’s manifesto, residents in the region called for improved infrastructure.

On his part, the NDC flagbearer reiterated the need for improved infrastructure in all regions.

“Under Former President John Evans Atta Mills, we targeted the construction of a public university in every region. We either upgraded some public institutions to the university level or started new ones. All regions were to have Regional Hospitals to serve as referral points”, he added.

He assured the residents that the next National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration will prioritise the development of the entire 16 regions.
