He takes over from the current IGP, Mohammed Alhassan, who is scheduled to start his accumulated leave this year ahead of his retirement, source close to the top Police hierarchy has confirmed to tv3network.com
Mr. Alhassan’s tenure was extended by two years when he was due for retirement. He was said to have bade farewell to some of the top officers Monday after a meeting with them. “If i don’t see you again, then Merry Christmas,” the source quoted the current IGP.
He was appointed acting IGP in February 5, 2013 when the then Inspector General of Police Paul Tawiah Quaye was asked to commence his compulsory 90-day terminal leave. He was later in June the same year, confirmed the substantive IGP.
