The Coalition of La Associations (CoLA) is warning of possible chaos over portions of land currently being occupied by the Ghana Armed Forces.

The two entities have been on a collision course for the past two years over some acres of land in the La area. The latest agitation follows a warning issued by the Ghana Armed Forces for all citizens to stay off its lands after the La Traditional Authority performed rites on portions of the land.

According to the Armed Forces, no notices had been given them in respect of ceding the said portions of land to the chiefs of the town.

That assertion is however being contested by the Coalition of La Associations who have warned that the stance of the Ghana Armed Forces is a recipe for chaos.

According to the Association, discussions had been concluded with all relevant state agencies on ceding some 114.5 acres of land to the traditional authority.

A statement issued by the Association further revealed “Representatives of the La Stool, Ghana Armed Forces and the Lands Commission jointly conducted an inspection and, together, planted pillars along the boundaries of the 114.52 acres of La Stool land. The area of 114.52 acres is therefore clearly demarcated on the ground.”

For CoLA, it is their expectation that GAF acts in fairness and in accordance with the law and respect the rights of the La Stool for peaceful co-existence insisting “Any action contrary to this will be illegal, unlawful and recipe for chaos,” the statement signed by Oscar Nii Odoi Glover warned.
