COCOBOD shuts all Accra offices over Covid-19

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has announced that all its offices in the nation’s capital Accra will be closed from Wednesday, July 8 for a fumigation exercise. The exercise will be carried out till Friday, July 10. “This has become necessary due to the mass testing the organisation is currently undertaking which has resulted in some staff members testing positive for Covid-19,” a circular issued by Chief Executive Officer Joseph Boahen Aidoo to staff and sighted by 3news.com said. “All necessary arrangements have been made for the affected staff to receive the necessary medical attention and contact tracing is currently ongoing to enforce quarantine and isolation measures, wherever applicable, of members/families who have been in contact with such staff.” The offices are expected to be open for normal activities on Monday, July 13. The circular said during the three-day fumigation exercise, normal operations will continue “without any distraction as staff have been equipped with the necessary working tools to be able to work remotely from their homes”. Work place infections of Covid-19 is said to have been on the ascendancy. As a result, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, a couple of weeks ago issued guidelines to industries and factories on the preventive measures. Consequently, the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations has dispatched a task force to all institutions and companies to enforce compliance of the safety protocols.
