Christian MPs angered by pressure to accept homosexuals

The chamber of Ghana’s parliament[/caption] Some Members of Parliament with Christian background have vowed to resist any pressure to legalise “abominable” and “backward” activities of homosexuals in Ghana. The Christian Community in Parliament in a statement signed by its President Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah said Ghana’s future would be compromised if the nation succumbs to the demand for gay right. “I write on behalf of the Christian Community in the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana to convey our total disapproval of attempts to promote and pressurize the government of Ghana to accept Lesbianism, Gayism, Bisexual and Transgender practices (LGBT) as human rights.” The statement underscored that homosexual practices have no place in African’s cultural norms, because almost all religions on the continent abhor the act. The MPs advised President Akufo-Addo to reject any form of pressure being exerted on him and his government to introduce or sponsor a bill to parliament for the legalization of any “indecent practice” that the vast majority of Ghanaians are said to frown upon. “I also urge the President to be resolute and reject in whole all enticements, juicy promises and pressures from the West to accept this dehumanizing practice let alone forward same to the highly respected Parliament of Ghana for consideration.” The president has therefore been urged to follow the footsteps of his predecessors and publicly denounce the practice. “The good book states in Matthew 16:13 that ‘…lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil^‘. Let it not be said that it is the current Parliament or any other Parliament in the future that would lead our dear Country into temptation,” the Christian group prayed.
