President Mahama has appointed Brigadier Francis Vib Sanziri, as the acting National Coordinator of the National Disaster Managament Organisation NADMO.

A statement signed by the Chief of Staff Tuesday June 9, says Brigadier General Sanziri, who replaces Kofi Portuphy, is currently the Director General, Joint Operations at the General Headquarters.

The appointment comes at time when the country has experienced one of its worst disasters in recent times.

A twin disaster of floods and fire in Accra, has claimed nearly 200 lives, injured many and also displaced others.
NADMO is currently distributing relief items to support victims.

Before the latest appointment, there had been excess pressure on the former Nadmo boss, Kofi Portuphy to resign following his election as national chairman of the incumbent National Democratric Congress, NDC.

The newly appointed acting National Nadmo coordinator, Brigadier Francis Vib Sanziri , was until recently the Commanding Officer of the Second Battalion of Infantry at Apremdo in Takoradi.
