The amount for medical equipment to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital in the Upper East Region is to be increased from two million to eight million dollars, President John Dramani Mahama has promised.

This, the President explained, is to further ensure effective healthcare service delivery to the people in the region and beyond.

President Mahama made the promise Thursday when he inspected expansion work on the regional hospital. Estimated at the cost of 10.5 million dollars, the expansion work that is scheduled to be completed by March 2016, will bring the hospital’s bed capacity to 175.

The increment in the amount will ensure the provision of equipment for plastic surgery, kidney transplant, autopsy and life support equipment.
President Mahama commended the contractor for the work done so far.
