Communication Specialist at the Ministry of Energy Nana Damoah has resolved to resign from his post barely 24 hours after the sector minister Boakye Agyarko was dismissed by President Akufo-Addo over a controversially ‘renegotiated’ Ameri deal. Nana Damoah who was vocal in defending the deal that received total rejection from the ordinary people through to energy experts, threatened Monday evening to release emails to ostensibly demonstrate no wrongdoing on the part of Mr. Agyarko or there were others involved in the deal.

Many Ghanaians are already demanding full disclosure on the deal which has reportedly been abandoned, especially circumstances surrounding how the President was allegedly misled into giving an executive approval to the ‘stinking’ deal. For some people, the dismissed Energy Minister may have acted with others on the deal which was sent to Parliament last month for approval but had to be put aside for the government furnish the House with some critical information. Moments after Mr. Agyarko was sacked Monday, Nana Damoah wrote on his personal Facebook page: “It’s time for the emails. Let’s play. He is to blame abi? He did it alone right? Ok.” [caption id="attachment_94150" align="aligncenter" width="1080"] Source Facebook/Nana Damoah[/caption] His post suggested some people may be involved in the deal which the government claimed would have saved the country some 400 million dollars, a claim that later turned out to be false, at least per the fact-checks done by experts in the sector. Some feared such a post could cost him his job at the Ministry but at exactly 7:27pm Monday, Nana Damoah followed his earlier post with another one, hinting of his resignation. “It is only right now that I step down. May the good Lord see the rest through,” he said in the second post on Facebook. As at Tuesday morning, his initial post apparently threatening to release emails to expose the truth in what has come to be known as the Ameri fiasco, had disappeared from his account.
