Be proud nation builders; Akufo-Addo charges graduates as he launches NABCO

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has charged unemployed graduates across the country to take advantage of the Nation Builders Corps to enhance their skill set for the job market. The President said this at the launch of the Nation Builders Corps at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi. “NABCO is yours, own it and have something meaningful happen for yourself and for your country. Be happy to say I am a nation builder,” the President said. President Akufo-Addo encouraged unemployed graduates in the country to embrace the Nation  Builders Corps which is expected to create some 100, 000 jobs for the youth. He noted that he is worried over the number of graduates sitting at home with no jobs, hence his government’s intervention to curb the menace of graduate unemployment in the country. “I was alarmed last year to know that 250,000 young graduates applied to be placed in the youth employment module.” The Nation Builders Corps is expected to kick-off with training sessions on July 1, 2018 after successful registration of applicants throughout the month of May. Interested graduates are expected to visit www.nabco.gov.gh to register from now till the June 1, 2018 when application officially closes. Applicants who make the cut will then proceed to begin work on August 1, 2018. It is open to graduates who have successfully completed Diploma and Degree programmes at accredited tertiary institutions across the country. The National Builders Corps is under seven modules, which is Educate Ghana, Heal Ghana, Feed Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Digitize Ghana, Enterprise Ghana and Civic Ghana. Successful applicants will work under one of the seven modules based on their qualification and skills, and would be entitled to a monthly allowance of 700 Ghana cedis for a period of three years. “This is a modest, but important beginning towards the restoration of their dignity. Beneficiaries will also receive skills training, and training on the job, both to equip and guide their future career paths,” President Akufo-Addo stated. President Akufo-Addo further pledged his government’s commitment to provide jobs for all unemployed youth in the country.
