The Incumbent Member of Parliament of the Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Francis Asenso Boakye and his main contender, Ralph Agyapong nearly exchanged blows at one of the polling stations.

The incident occurred when Mr Agyapong stated that it was “unprofessional” for Mr Asenso-Boakye to sing at the voting center.

Meanwhile, Police officers have intervened and restored calm at the center.

The signs could be said to have been on the wall as earlier in the week, Ralph Kwame Opoku Agyapong also criticised his main contender, who is also the Works and Housing Minister for “falsely” claiming projects started by the late former MP of the Bantama Constituency, Daniel Okyem Aboagye.

On January 23, Nana Kwabena Bonsu Kanin III, the Chief of Ampabamehene, a suburb of Bantama in the Ashanti Region threw his weight behind Francis Asenso-Boakye, Member of Parliament for Bantama for a second term, ahead of the party’s parliamentary primaries on January 27.

The statement was made by the Chief, who is also Otumfuo‘s Suaaduhene, during a ceremony to commission a newly constructed  station by the Bantama MP at Ohwim-Amanfrom on January 23.

The project is the third police station to be commissioned in the Constituency under the leadership of Mr. Asenso-Boakye.

However, Lawyer Opoku Agyapong alleged that, “Every single police station was started by the late Daniel Okyem Aboagye and not Asenso as he has been claiming. He has not done much to uplift the constituency.”

The junior brother of Assin central lawmaker,  also stated that he comes to the  with integrity.

“When my name came up on Key Points the last time on  during a political discussion, do you remember what Lawyer Kpebu said? He said he knows me to be a man of integrity and that’s what defines me. My name is tagged with integrity unlike my opponent,” he posited.
