Assailants open fire at Bole DISEC officials, killing one

Unknown assailants on Friday, February 5 opened fire at officials of the Bole District Security Council at Dollar Power, said to be a border town and known for galamsey activities, killing one instantly.

The officials were accompanying the head of the Council, the District Chief Executive (DCE), to the area for what has been described as a “fact-finding mission”.

But from nowhere, robbers who are said to have laid ambush opened fire at the officials – most of whom are members of the country’s security agencies.

Four persons were injured and they have since been taken to the Bole Government Hospital, where they are responding to treatment.

The name of the deceased has been withheld.

The Northern Regional Police Command has confirmed the incident but are tight-lipped on operations in the area.
