The War Lord of Asogli Traditional Area in Ho says he is ready to deploy traditional warriors to assist state security agencies to provide adequate security for residents of the area. This comes in the wake of an arson attack on the INTERCITY STC transport terminal in Ho Tuesday dawn. Addressing a press conference on behalf of Togbe Afede XIV, the Paramount Chief of Asogli, Togbe Adzie Lakle Howusu condemned the recent attacks by the self-styled Western Togoland secessionist movement and called for a thorough investigation by government to bring the perpetrators. “We urge the government to chase the perpetrators and bring them to book,” he said. “We also advise those people who are doing these criminal acts to use the proper channels to address their issues if they have any.” According to the chiefs, the safety and security of all citizens is very paramount to them and called for heightened security to safeguard lives and properties. “The Asogli State Council is ready to deploy the warriors of Asogli State to protect the territories of Asogli State in collaboration with the securities of the nation.” There is heavy military presence at the transport terminal. The attack on Tuesday comes a few days after members of the secessionist group Western Togoland Restoration Front mounted roadblocks at entry points to the Volta Region to apparently declare their independence.
