Ameri deal is dubious – IES

Energy think tank, Institute of Energy Security (IES) has described the controversial renegotiated Ameri deal as “dubious.” The deal has been a subject of controversy following an executive approval and the agreement being subsequently sent to parliament for approval. Speaking on 3FM’s Sunrise Morning show on Monday, with host, Winston Amoah, research analyst at the IES, Mikdad  Mohammed, said, “the deal is a dubious deal, full of  cooked figures  and not anything realistic.” On minority’s role in the entire saga, he noted that the minority has failed in putting government on its toes, and that the minority could have done more research to ensure due diligence is done. “What  they did was just to agree with the majority that there was a need for PURC approval, there was a need for  the AG to give her opinion, there was a need for the Finance Minister to give approval of it in line with the Public Financial Management  Act.” There have been calls for the Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko to resign following the issues arising from the Ameri deal.
