Alleged double salaried Mahama appointees investigated for stealing

Member of Parliament  for Asunafo South, Eric Opoku[/caption] Three former appointees of the erstwhile Mahama administration accused of receiving double salaries have been told by the police CID they are being investigated for stealing. The three were at the CID headquarter Tuesday April 17 upon the invitation of the investigating body to have their caution statements taken. They include Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, Member of Parliament for Ada, Comfort Doyoe Ghansah, and Member of Parliament  for Asunafo South, Eric Opoku. After minutes of engagement with the CID, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini told the press he was being investigated for stealing but claims he is innocent. [caption id="attachment_56904" align="aligncenter" width="578"] Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini[/caption] “I have just completed the processes: I have been interviewed, and also asked to write a caution statement, what they are investigating me for is stealing and obviously I have not stolen from anybody,” he said. He said that what they are going through was planned to make them less effective in their work places but they will not succumb to such pressures. “I have said and I will say it again,what we appear to be going through is a calculated attempt to dampen our spirits and ensure that we fail to do our work as Members of Parliament.” He added they will cooperate with the police while executing their duties as mandated until they find a resting place for the matter. “We will continue to make ourselves available to the police while performing our duties as Members of Parliament until such a time that they dispose off the matter either through their own actions or in court.” On her part, the MP for Ada, and former minister of state at the presidency in charge of Social and Allied Institutions, Comfort Doyoe Ghansah insisted they did not receive double salary. She said even if the Controller and Accountant General had noticed any discrepancies in their salaries they ought to have been communicated to, but that was not done. A member of the legal team for the accused MPs, Victor Kojogah Adawudu also described the allegation as being “ridiculous” without any legal merit. Meanwhile, the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu said he has set up a committee to take all the accused MPs bank statements and investigate and report back to him, after which he will respond to it.
