All appear set for the much-anticipated stakeholders’ forum on the voters’ register.

The two-day forum is being organized by the Electoral Commission of Ghana to collate views on the way forward regarding the electoral register.

Reporting from the auditorium at the Alisa Hotel, where the forum will be held, TV3’s Odelia Ntiamoah Boampong and Bridget Otoo said security agencies have already positioned themselves at vantage points around the venue.

National security operatives as well as police officers are already at the venue.

Some officers of the EC are also issuing stakeholders accreditations, without which one cannot participate in the forum.

Principal Public Relations Officer of the EC Sylvia Annor said all parties will be given the chance to make presentations during the two-day programme.

After a presentation, she explained to TV3’s Bridget Otoo, there will be a public discussion.

A five-member committee set up by the EC will moderate the forum.

Among the members are former Electoral Commissioner and retired Supreme Court  Judge VCRAC Crabbe, former Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana Reverend Professor Emmanuel Kwaku Asante and President of the Internet Society of Ghana Dr Nii Narku Quaynor, all of whom the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have raised concerns about for having previously expressed opinions – one way or the other – on the current register.

The rest are former Government Statistician Dr Grace Bediako and Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Mission Maulvi Bin Salih.
