President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated Abdul-Mumin Issah as the new Chief Executive of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA).

This comes almost two months after the death of Anthony KK Sam.

Mr Sam died at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) from Covid-19 complications.

In a statement issued by the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama on Thursday, President Akufo-Addo nominated Mr Issah, according to Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, Act 936.

The President has also nominated two others for the Akwapim North and Amansie South assemblies.

These are Barima Awuah Sarpong Asiedu-Larbi for the Akwapim North Municipal Assembly and Clement Opoku-Gyamfi for the Amansie South District Assembly.

“In view of the above, the Hon. Regional Ministers for Wester, Eastern and Ashanti Regions are requested to liaise with the Regional Electoral Commission to conduct the confirmation process of nominated Chief Executives.”
