Alhaji Mahama died after a gruesome acid attack on May 20, 2015 near his home in Bolgatanga.
He is reported to have mentioned Gregory Afoko, brother to then NPP National Chairman Paul Afoko, as the mastermind of the vitriolage prior to his death.
Marking one year after the poignant death, Nana Akufo-Addo said: “It was a day the NPP lost a true blue party man, and a noble adherent of its principles and values”.
He stated that the late regional chairman was passionate about the NPP recapturing power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“It is up to us to make sure that Adams did not die in vain,” Nana Akufo-Addo urged the party’s supporters.
“The way in which we will not let his death be in vain is to rededicate ourselves to the struggle ahead; that is the struggle to redeem our country and return her to the path of progress and prosperity.
“When we have done this and put the smiles back on the faces of all the poor and needy people that Adams took care of, only then would we have truly ‘avenged’ his death.”
He prayed for continued strength for the Adams Mahama family.
“On this day, and on behalf of the entire membership of the NPP, we pledge to continue to work to keep the Adams’ flame alight. To his widow, children, and family, we pray for Allah’s continued strength for them.”
