Akufo-Addo hands over 200 new Toyota Camry to Ghana Police

The vehicles which were presented to the Ghana Police[/caption] President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has presented over 200 newly acquired Toyota Camry saloon vehicles to the Ghana Police Service, assuring the Service of more resources in the coming months. He said his administration’s massive Police resourcing agenda has just, and that government will continue to mobilise whatever assistance it can to enable the Police provide the Ghanaian people, the kind of service they deserve. He indicated that the government believes the most essential things for a nation are the peace and safety of its people and its territorial integrity. “It is when these are guaranteed that its citizens can go about their normal lives in security and try to improve the quality of their circumstances,” the President said. Nana Akufo-Addo said  the aim of government is to strengthen the Police and fashion it into an honest, disciplined, efficient and robust force. He urged the Police administration to ensure proper maintenance of the vehicles. Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery stated government will continue to address the host of challenges of Police personnel such as the promotions of some 750 officers, which have been long pending. The Deputy Inspector General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh, who represented the Inspector General of Police (IGP), said the transformation agenda of government as far as the Police Service is concerned is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 16. That goal, he said, places peace, justice, accountable and inclusive institutions at the core of sustainable development. He thus assured Ghanaians that the Service will use the new vehicular resources to serve the people of Ghana.
