President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sent his best wishes to farmers and fisherfolk across the country to celebrate them for their contribution to growth and development of the economy.

Marking Farmer’s Day Friday, November 6, President Akufo-Addo stated: “I salute all farmers and fisherfolk and award winners across the country for the hard work, perseverance and co-operation with government agencies during the course of the year.

“Winning an award is not only commendable but also a challenge. Build on your successes, and move on to even greater heights in the years.

He applauded farmers and fisher folk for their support and production especially in this time of Covid-19.

“As a result of the resilient nature of Ghanaian agriculture, buoyed on by the fact that the sector has received strong support from government over the last three years and ten months, we, in Ghana, faced no shortages in food supply since the outbreak of the virus on our shores in March and out country has since been able to stand on its own two feet, in spite of the obviously difficult time.

“I express the appreciation of a grateful nation to farmers and fisherfolk across the country for achieving this historic feat.”
