The fastest growing radio station in Ashanti Region and beyond, Akoma FM, a subsidiary of Media General, has mobilized a total sum of over GH¢10,800 for a doubly amputated woman to assist her buy prosthesis.
Millicent Kyeremeh, 38, lost her two arms after she suffered a short illness, a situation she says has really rendered her incapacitated.
Recounting her ordeal on Akoma FM’s flagship afternoon social programme Akoma Mu Nsem, Millicent’s story touched hearts and cherished listeners willingly donated cash to procure a standard prosthesis to enable her to go about her normal duties.
She further explained what really caused her to lose her two arms.
“I am a trader so on my daily routine, after work, I started covering my stuff after a day’s work and strangely, I felt dizzy and sat on the ground for a while.
“My colleague traders helped me and after they saw my situation was getting worse, I was rushed to the hospital and I was diagnosed with diabetes.
‘After sometime, my two hands started to rot so the doctors advised the best way to go [was] to chop off my two hands and this is what has become of me,” she lamented.
Madam Milicent Kyermeh who is now a person with disability, in a sobbing voice, appealed to listeners of the Akoma Mu Nsem magazine show to support in cash to get her back to normal life.
Host of the show Akosua Addai Munumkum appealed to the listeners to support the lady.
Truly, radio gets results as cash of a little over GH¢10,000 was mobilized via mobile money and bank transaction.
On Monday, June 14, the production team of Akoma Mu Nsem led by one of the panelists of the show, Evangelist Micheal Antwi, known also as Condemn, presented the cash to Madam Millicent to procure the prosthesis.
After receiving the cash, madam Millicent thanked Akoma FM listeners and everyone who in diverse ways heard her story and supported.
“I don’t know what would have happened to me without this gesture, God richly bless you,” she added.
