A Deputy Minister of Trade, Mr Herbert Krapa has said that by 2030, Africa can produce 5 million new vehicles every year due to the African Continental Free Trade Area  (AfCFTA).

He said this at the Ghana-Denmark Business Forum.

He further called on stakeholders to create, build, develop and maintain long-lasting partnerships to leverage the opportunities presented by the AfCFTA.

“By 2030, Africa can produce 5 million new vehicles every year, thanks to the #AfCFTA.”

“We must create, build, develop and maintain long-lasting partnerships to leverage the opportunities presented by the #AfCFTA.”

Earlier, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Alan Kyerematen assured that the government will create the enabling environment to make the implementation of the AfCFTA a success.

He explained that the vision of government is to transform Ghana into a modern industrialized country, a vision he said would be successful with the effective implementation of the AfCFTA.

Speaking at the launch of the National AfCFTA Policy Framework and Action Plan for Boosting Ghana’s Trade with Africa in Accra on Tuesday August 2, Kyerematen said: “Our vision is to transform Ghana into a modern, industrialised country which will become the new manufacturing hub of the continent.”

“The effective implementation of the AfCFTA in Ghana, would no doubt make a significant contribution in realising this vision,” Kyerematen said.

He added: “The government on its part, will provide the needed political impetus and create the enabling environment to ensure the successful implementation of AfCFTA in Ghana.”

“The AfCFTA Agreement provides immense opportunities for industrialisation and the development of regional value chains covering strategic sectors of the Ghanaian economy,” he said.
