Adhere to all COVID-19 protocols while going for second dose of AstraZeneca – GHS

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has asked all eligible persons who will be going for their second dose of the Astrazenecca vaccine to adhere to all the Covid-19 protocols.

A press statement issued by the GHS on Monday August 30 ahead of the second dose vaccination of the AstraZenacca, said “the Ghana Health Service wishes to inform the general public that it has taken delivery of additional 249,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine and deployment for the second dose continues across all 16 regions in the country from Tuesday, 31st August, 2021 to Saturday, 4th September, 2021 from 8.30am.

“Persons 18 years or older who received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine between 10th to 29th, March, 2021, are to participate in this exercise.

“All eligible persons are advised to bring along a valid National ID card (preferably the one presented for the 1st dose) and their COVID-19 vaccination card to vaccination centres within their respective regions.

“The respective Regional Health Directorates of the Ghana Health Service shall provide further information on the designated sites for vaccination in their regions.”


The statement added “By this release, the Service is entreating the general public to continue to adhere to all COVID-19 protocols such as the appropriate wearing of face masks and maintaining physical distancing when visiting a vaccination centre.


“The Ghana Health Service would like to take this opportunity to inform the general public that the country is due to take delivery of a further 350,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine before the middle of September 2021.

“This will be administered to the rest of the population who are awaiting the second dose while efforts continue to be made to get more vaccines for the population.”
