General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as ‘Sir John’, has described the ruling National Democratic Congress’ “Better Ghana Agenda” as a hoax.

He says Ghanaians are crying for a change that will transform their lives.

He says the NDC’s mantra should rather be a ‘Bitter Ghana Agenda’ as Ghanaians feel short-changed.

‘Sir John’ was speaking to TV 3 News’ Nana Aba Anamoah on 7 GMT on Friday, November 16, 2012.

He said the NPP has a vision of moving the economy into an industrialized one.

“It takes good leadership to have the kind of economic transformation we envisage,” he said.

“The NPP will want to move the economy to a more industrialized one.”

He says the NDC does not have anything to offer Ghanaians.

The only thing they have is ‘It cannot be done’, he told Nana Aba Anamoah.

“The NDC does not have any vision and programmes,” he said. “What they have is ‘It cannot be done’.”

He also explained that the NPP has other programmes aside the Free SHS policy and that the party’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, talks about these other themes captured in their manifesto at different fora.

“We have programmes on which major speeches are made on our manifesto,” he stressed, adding that the meeting of the Trades Union Congress  and the Association of Ghanaian Industries by Nana Addo is testament to the broad-based structure of his party’s manifesto.

He, however, stressed that education is key.

“The success of every country depends largely on education. That is why it is dear to the heart of Nana Addo.”

Asked by Nana Aba Anamoah why the NPP appear to be more religious than before, the NPP scribe alluded to the biblical Eden but he says the party has resolved to return to the LORD.

“In 2000, we had ‘Awurade Kasa’ and God spoke through the people,” he explained.

“We have to seek the face of the LORD and we have gone back to the basics.”
