Seven persons have been arrested in Danton Daboase in the Northern Region in connection with two AK47 riffles and other undisclosed weapons retrieved from them.

A laptop, which had what Police suspect to be terrorism-training videos of Taliban, was also retrieved from the suspects whose strange movement in the town aroused the suspicion of the residents.

Northern Regional Police Public Relations officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, told TV3 that the residents reported the suspicious movement of two of the seven people to the Palace where they were invited.

They then led the two – Mahama Salifu Mustao and Issah Suale – to their residence and the two riffles plus other weapons were retrieved from them.

Our Northern Regional Correspondent, Zubaida Ismail, reports that a 60-year-old Idrisu Ibrahim Wumpuni, a resident of Lamashegu in Tamale, who went to the palace to plead for the release of the two, was also arrested.

Four others persons who also showed up at the Palace without any reasonable cause were also arrest. A search on them revealed some undisclosed number of weapons in a sack, she reported.

A preliminary investigation has revealed all the seven persons live in the same household in Danton Daboase in the Salaga District.  They are currently in police custody
