Executives of the incumbent National Democratic Congress in the Mpraeso constituency of the Eastern Region, who were locked up for assault, were on Monday granted bail by an Mpraeso Circuit court.

Their bail bond was set at Ghc8,000, and they are to reappear  in court on Friday, August 14.

The five executives including, the constituency chairman Mahama salifu, were locked up after a confrontation with the Kwahu South DCE Joseph Omari.

The court presided over by Justice Mariam Saleh, last week, charged the five with assault, conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry and stealing.

Tensions between the Mpraeso executives of the party and their DCE worsened after they were allegedly pepper-sprayed by the DCE during a scuffle in his office last Wednesday.

The executives were later nabbed and locked up following a complaint by the DCE.

In the meantime, all constituency chairmen of the NDCC in the Eastern Region, have ordered for the closure of the party’s offices across the region until further notice.
