The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) Thursday morning paid a visit to some 15 victims of the Gbane mine blast who have been on admission at the regional hospital for treatment.  About 17 people have reportedly died from inhaling toxic gases from a blast while underground in a mining tunnel close to another mining concession, which is serviced by Chinese company Shaanxi. The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Patrick Atobrah, told the media during the visit that more than nine dead bodies have been brought to their facility while 15 persons were on admission. Led by the deputy regional minister, Fusheini Frank Adongo, REGSEC also proceeded to the mining site at Gbane in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region. The REGSEC had held a meeting on the matter prior to the visits while leadership of the mining companies are being interrogated by the police.
