October is breast cancer awareness month created to increase attention and awareness each year and as such the Management of the Lands Commission in collaboration with the Gender Unit held a breast Cancer Screening and other medical checks for its staff.

A team of doctors from Heath Medicare led by Dr. Carlos Ofori were at the Commission to counsel staff on the need to get their breast screened and have other medical checkups frequently.
“The fight against breast Cancer is an all-inclusive action. Men and women are all at risk of getting breast cancer, although women are diagnosed with it. Remember, Cancer is treatable; early detection and prompt action is the key’’, Dr. Ofori said.

He also encouraged staff to frequent the hospital so that they can be diagnosed of diseases earlier than for them to wait till its deteriorated state.

The Acting Executive Secretary, Surv. James Dadson who passed through to Grace the occasion emphasized the need to be doing regular check ups for early detection and treatment of any illness. He said management of the Commission is committed to ensuring that staff have good health which is priceless and commended the Gender Unit for organising this exercise every year.

Speaking to the head of the Gender Unit, Ms. Margaret she stated that, this is not the first time they are holding a screening exercise as it is important for staffs to be screened frequently because when a staff is sick it affects productivity at work.

Some staffs also mentioned it’s a good initiative and pleaded with management to organize a screening for staffs at least every six (6) months.
